Love requires awareness for correct expression

Today we speak of love.

When you know the language of love you inevitably have formed a close bond with your Mighty Presence, for love is the most all-encompassing quality of creator, First Cause.

Love – in this instance – is not limited in terms of family, lover, or friend. Love emanates as a quality of soul and is expressed most fully in appreciation of the “other.” By this we mean – love is seldom remarkable when it is expressed among those of like kind or inclination. It is remarkable when it appears among species that would make a fine lunch of another were it not for the quality and property of love emanating from the lifeform.

Love contains all the wondrous attributes detailed by Kahil Gibran. It is the salve that permits unlike friendships to occur. When you love your mother, father, sister, brother, neighbor, friend, you do nothing particularly remarkable. When you love your devout Christian or Jewish friend when you are yourself a Palestinian Muslim – you approximate the Christ in seeing the God Presence within that which is not “you,” however defined.

It is not easy to embody this type of love for it requires a degree of growth and maturity seldom found in young species. It requires the ability to place oneself in another’s world and determine how it must feel to be that one, and not you.

Love, for these reasons, is sometimes assumed to be “weak.” Let us assure you it is not easy to love the grand creation without prejudice of one sort or another creeping in. The question we hear in the background is “So, are we to love those who seek to do us harm, or worse, eradicate our very existence?” And we say “No, you are not to love the evil you perceive, but the life ensnared within a prison of dark and ugly deeds.”

Some live lives of such brutality and Self-hatred it is quite impossible to show these love, primarily because the more love one shows the greater the anger and brutality likely to be reflected back at you. For this reason, love – while freely given – should never be emanated indiscriminately. There must be some degree of awareness governing the release of the love vibration.

As an example, your Christ, according to legend, whipped the money changers in the temple. Certainly none would accuse the Christ of lacking love. At the same time the Christ recognized the utter depravity at hand and acted out of love for the Life trapped within the bodies capable of such unseemly desecration. Were any of those money changers to step up to him at a later date and say “I see my actions were wrong,” there is none who would offer forgiveness and love more rapidly than that same Christ to the one who desecrated the Life within thru wrong action.

There are some so completely devoid of love they become unresponsive to the vibration of love. Showing love in this instance may be likened to casting pearls before swine. It is both a waste of love and of little use to the swine. For this reason one must have discrimination.

While it is better to err on the side of love than “no love,” it is best to embody awareness so that one does not heap up even greater unloveliness in the unloving thru acting in ways that stir great hatred and resentment.
